Make the Connection between Donations and Mail Easier: USPS Mobile Promotion

We all want to make the link from donations to mailings simpler, right?! Well, we are in luck! As multi-channel marketing gets more and more commonplace, the United States Postal Service wants to encourage mailers to make the connections between mobile shopping/donations and your mail easier. Here is what you will need to qualify for the USPS Mobile Promotions, and everything else you need to know.

The USPS is offering up to a 2% postage discount for including any of the following mobile technologies:

• QR Codes – linked to your donation page.
• Voice Assistant Instructions (Google Home or Amazon Alexa) – printed instructions on how to give through your virtual assistant.
• Image Recognition – where the donor can scan an image that contains a “dotless QR code” and it will take them to your donation page directly.
• Augmented Reality Experience – that leads to a donation page.

What do you need to know:

• The promotion registration starts July 15 and runs through December 31.
• The promotion period is from September 1 – December 31.
• Marketing and Non-Profit letters and flats qualify (first-class mail does not qualify).
• The mobile shopping instructions/code can be located on the envelope or inside the package, but it cannot be located on the reply card or reply envelope.
• You can only take advantage of one promotion per mailing. Since this promotion is run at the same time as the Informed Delivery, you will have to choose one or the other promotion.
