Just yesterday we posted that the mailing industry was speculating that the Postal Service would hold off on submitting a new rate proposal to the Postal Regulatory Commission (PRC), at least until the Court of Appeals made a ruling on the exigent surcharge or until late Summer when the exigent increase is likely to be removed.
However, yesterday afternoon, the USPS surprised us and submitted a revised proposal to the PRC after all. If the PRC approves this latest proposal, then new rates would be implemented on May 31, 2015. Below is a grid that shows the current Nonprofit letter rates and proposed rates with and without the exigent surcharge (First Class rates are already approved). The PRC will likely respond to these revisions at some point next week. Production Solutions will keep you updated as news develops.
