Our day-to-day work has sometimes felt impossible this past year, but together we made it possible. We managed and supported each other to communicate with donors and inspire more people to give. For that we are grateful!
At PS, your account managers pride themselves on leading your mailings from start to finish. They find joy in resolving the ongoing challenges of direct mail production, but 2022 put us all to the test. We had more challenges than at any other time in our industry. This year brought disruption in traditionally stable areas of the direct mail process (longer schedules, paper limitations, tests you might not have been able to try, pricing fluctuations, mailing delays, and more). You name it; it happened this year. Thank you for being creative and flexible in finding solutions as our norms were disrupted. We stood together, endured hardships and made it work because what we do together is so important.
We also recognize this impacted you and your business. We know it isn’t an easy conversation to inform your boards and decision-makers of these compounding industry challenges. From cost increases to delays in mailings to potential revenue impacts, you had to navigate all of this without the science and data of knowing “the true why” behind it. Did donors dislike the new paper we had to use? Is this why they didn’t donate as much as last time? What are these changes going to mean? What will be the result, the outcome? You didn’t necessarily have all the answers, yet you prevailed, pivoted and worked hard with us to execute your campaigns in the best way we could in these circumstances.
