PS is pleased to share the great news that the USPS will maintain existing marketing mail letter and flat requirements!
This past summer we shared that the USPS had issued an Advanced Federal Register Notice letting the mailing industry know they potentially wanted to change the content standards for marketing mail. This ruling that would have excluded non-paper based components and items perceived as merchandise or of value, from Marketing Mail letters and flats. PS partnered with our amazing network of suppliers and clients in a grass roots effort to get as many opposition letters sent to the USPS as possible. The push of opposition was so significant – Over 4,700 opposition letters were received by the USPS!
We worked closely with our friends at ADRFCO and the Alliance of Nonprofit Mailers and stayed connected with the MTAC workgroup that was formed providing our feedback along the way. And these tremendous efforts from the mailing industry worked! At this time, the Postal Service has decided that there will be no changes. This includes no new restrictions based on the content of mailpiece or whether the mailpiece contains non-paper material.
