Have you heard about the upcoming USPS CASS Cycle O rollout? Don’t worry if you haven’t, because we’ve got all the details!
The USPS has been working on this for a couple of years now, and it’s finally almost here. So what is CASS Cycle O? Basically, it’s a software certification offered by the USPS that matches mailfiles with their internal address database to ensure the accuracy of mailing addresses.
The new version of CASS includes changes that were requested by the mailing community to improve accuracy. These changes will code a small percentage of addresses as un-mailable and recognize some currently “bad” addresses as good addresses. For example, addresses that are not eligible for USPS mail will now be coded as undeliverable, and trailing alphas (like adding a rental apartment over a garage) will now be a separate address.
The deadline to use the old version (CASS Cycle N) is July 31st, 2023. After that, all presorted mailings submitted to the USPS must use CASS Cycle O, or risk losing postal discounts. This change affects Presorted FC and Non-Profit mailings, but not full-rate First Class Mail.
So, if you have run your mailfiles through CASS prior to coming to PS, you will need to provide us with a CASS Certification Summary document. This will allow us to help you avoid losing postal discounts. And as always, if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to your PS team.
