In an effort to maximize their direct response fundraising programs, North Shore Animal League America (NSALA) managed their production internally, like many other nonprofit organizations. With a tight budget and a small team, it became apparent that preserving the already limited staff time that was being spent on production management was critical to move the program forward. Without a strong partner to support their fundraising efforts, the management of NSALA’s production timelines, execution and logistics were negatively impacting their bottom line.
PS|PS Digital (PS) was engaged to partner with NSALA to help maximize their fundraising budget and create consistency within their production management. PS performed a comprehensive program audit of NSALA’s annual fundraising communications to identify cost-saving strategies, innovative package testing opportunities, and implementing the ease of process that comes with working with the PS team.
With a thorough understanding of NSALA’s unique needs and goals, PS was able to leverage their industry experience, robust partner network, and production expertise to effectively manage their production needs (and more). So much so, that the first year of the partnership resulted in more than $200,000 in annual savings for NSALA. In all, with the savings NSALA experienced, they were able to test new package formats and plan a more effective annual direct response fundraising program.
A national and international leader in the no-kill movement, North Shore Animal League America is committed to saving and rehabilitating the lives of homeless companion animals and educating the public about the joys and responsibilities of rescue. Founded in 1944, we’re the largest, most comprehensive no-kill rescue and adoption organization in the world, with more than 2,000 shelter partners across the country and around the globe. Headquartered in Port Washington, New York, we rescue, nurture, and adopt nearly 18,000 pets annually into responsible, loving homes, plus assist in the adoptions of thousands more through our global partnerships. Over the years, we’ve introduced such lifesaving best practices as mobile adoption, offsite adoption, puppy mill rescue, national low-cost spay/neuter referral, humane relocation, and most recently, the Mutt-i-grees® Curriculum, a transformative humane education program based on social-emotional learning and the natural affinity between children and animals. Introduced in 2010, the Mutt-i-grees Curriculum is strengthening the human-animal bond for more than 3,000,000 students across North America, and creating future generations of informed and empathetic adopters.
